The 2020 Isle of Wight Festival of Running introduces a full 8 days of races and running based activities which runners and their families can enjoy together.

In the week leading up to the Isle of Wight Festival of Running we will be holding a series of events all focused on running.  Come along,  join in, have fun and make some new running friends!

All races will be chip timed (except the Duver Dash and the Junior Fun Run). We are proudly inclusive of all members of the LGBT+ community and we welcome entrants as female, male or non-binary.

Sunday 24 May

Duver Dash

The Duver Dash is a scenic race which starts and finishes on the Duver at St Helens. The 5km course takes in spectacular coastal views and finishes along the Causeway path between the lagoons in the Harbour itself.  The 1km Junior route is on the Duver with, (and there is) a 2nd lap option.

Organised by Julie Dixon of West Wight Community Running Group. Join for a fun 10k route starting at finishing at the centre. This run will end with advice and tips on the best way to stretch following a run. No booking required – just turn up

Campsite Opens

Film Night

‘Friends of Freshwater Library’ have very kindly offered to put on a film night especially for the Isle of Wight Festival of Running. The movie shown will be ‘Brittany Runs a Marathon’ cert 15. “Comedy. A hard-partying woman receives a startling wake up call when a visit to the doctor reveals how unhealthy she is. Motivated to loose weight, she soon takes up running to help her prepare for her ultimate goal of competing in the New York City Marathon.

Freshwater 5k

The Freshwater 5k is perfect for anyone who has completed a Couch to 5K programme. Starting out from the Sports Centre the 5k route passes through the beautiful countryside of Freshwater with views across the rest of the West Wight. The race will also take you through the twists and turns of footpaths running through the stunning Freshwater countryside, finishing back at the Sports Centre. For more details CLICK HERE.

Tapnell 10K

The Tapnell 10k is perfect for anyone who is experienced at park runs and wants to try a slightly longer distance. Starting out from the Sports Centre the race is a cross country route through some of the spectacular West Wight countryside, finishing back at the Sports Centre. The race is named after Tapnell Farm where the race runs in a loop to and from, to learn more about Tapnell Farm please click here. Needles Half Marathon

Our Needles Half Marathon is one of the toughest and most scenic half marathons in the country.  The 13.1 mile route will take you over downs and heathland, past historic monuments and of course you’ll glimpse the most iconic landmark on the Isle of Wight – The Needles.
